after care
Front desk at Selkie, featuring Pumpkin Spice, Sweet Escape, and Summer Vacay Ingrown Hair oil from Bushbalm - Our in house after care system.
it takes two…..
For the first 24 hours post-treatment (while your follicles are open), avoid sun exposure, tanning, perfumed skin products, excessive exercise, beaches, pools, hot tubs, and sexual activity
If you think sunburns are bad, you don't want to know what a sunburnt follicle feels like
Products containing perfumes and fragrance are more likely to cause irritation
Excessive exercise can cause friction (which can lead to irritation), sweating and increase your risk of ingrown hairs and other follicular infections
Sexual activity while your follicles are open can lead to increased risk of STD/STI as well as severe irritation from friction
Body washes that sit on the skin (such as high moisture washes) can suffocate your follicles and lead to ingrown hair.
The best thing you can do for your skin is to moisturize daily with something that can be absorbed by the skin, and exfoliate the areas treated 2-3 times a week with a dry brush, exfoliating mitt or sugar scrub (after 24 hours). These two things together will help prevent In-grown hairs, and keep your hair and skin soft and strong.
